Château Auguste
80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc
For a classic match, consider roasted poultry like chicken or duck, which complements the wine's fruit-forward profile without overwhelming it. Grilled lamb chops seasoned with herbs such as rosemary or thyme also harmonize well with the wine’s subtle earthy and herbal notes. For pork lovers, a tenderloin served with a plum or berry reduction highlights the wine’s natural fruitiness. On the cheese board, soft and creamy options like Brie or Camembert, as well as mildly nutty cheeses like aged Gouda, make excellent companions. Vegetarians might enjoy it alongside mushroom-based dishes like risotto or savory tarts, which mirror the wine’s depth and warmth.
Château Auguste is an approachable and exquisite Bordeaux in the whole sense of the word. The color is cherry red. The nose is full of red ripe fruit with some cedar notes. The mouth is very elegant, red fruit some licorice notes, very balanced and greedy. Nice finish with licorice notes.
Château Auguste is a 74-acre Bordeaux Superieur estate located in the Right Bank region of Bordeaux within the Entre-Deux-Mers appellation. The enchanting name “Entre-Deux-Mers” – translated as “between two seas” or “tides” – refers to the Garonne and Dordogne rivers that form the boundaries of the triangular region. For thousands of years, the two rivers have deposited sand and gravel, eventually building up a sub rock of limestone. Given the fertile landscape, Romans were the first to plant vineyards here, with monks later developing the area during the Middle Ages. The estate is organically farmed, with the Château producing more than 16,000 cases a year.
