Kate Arnold Willamette Valley
Pinot Noir
Try with a wild mushroom risotto, seared pork chops, or duck roast.
The winemaker's restraint in alcohol and oak, all neutral barrels, is appreciated. There are fresh aromas of red raspberries and the saline quality one associates with a crisp sea breeze or the lining of a fresh-shucked oyster. The ripe red cherry fruit on the palate gives the wine a sweetness similar to a cherry phosphate or a childhood drink made with those fizzy tablets. This is a light and refreshing Pinot Noir experience. — Michael Alberty, Wine Enthusiast
Kate Arnold Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley is a 100% Pinot Noir wine crafted with grapes sourced from family-owned vineyards across Oregon's renowned Willamette Valley AVA, emphasizing a hands-on, minimal-intervention approach to winemaking. The fruit is carefully selected from trusted growers in this cool-climate region, known for producing elegant, balanced Pinot Noirs with bright acidity and expressive fruit. Fermentation occurs naturally (dry, with no added concentrate or sugar), allowing the terroir to shine through. The wine is then aged for approximately 11 months in 100% French oak barrels, typically neutral or older (3–7 years old), to provide subtle structure and integration without overpowering the fruit with heavy new oak influence. This restrained oak regimen, combined with the producer's focus on minimal intervention, results in a medium-bodied, lively wine with vibrant acidity, a round mid-palate, and a clean, refreshing finish.
